Day 1: Arriving

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide and begin your journey to Tarangire National Park. Arrive in time for lunch at your selected lodge or tented camp. Often described as the least visited gem of northern Tanzania, Tarangire is home to a remarkable variety of flora, including nine distinct vegetation zones, with landscapes dotted by majestic baobab trees and iconic umbrella acacias. After lunch, enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure—relax, take in the views, and prepare for the adventure ahead. Dinner and overnight at your Tarangire safari lodge or camp.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari in Tarangire National Park

Spend the entire day exploring the wild beauty of Tarangire National Park on a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. Renowned for its massive elephant population and ancient baobab-studded landscapes, Tarangire offers some of the best wildlife viewing in northern Tanzania. Watch for large herds of elephants, prides of lions, zebras, giraffes, and even the rare fringe-eared oryx and gerenuk. This day allows for slow, immersive exploration through varied habitats and less-traveled tracks. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Tarangire – Game Drive and Transfer to Ngorongoro/Karatu

 

Begin your morning with a final game drive in Tarangire as the park awakens, with a packed lunch provided. After your safari, continue your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area or Karatu Highlands. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife such as greater kudus and elephants, often spotted crossing open plains and wooded hills. Arrive at your lodge by late afternoon, where you can unwind and prepare for the next day’s crater exploration. Dinner and overnight at your Ngorongoro or Karatu lodge.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Return to Karatu

After an early breakfast, descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five in a single game drive. The crater floor offers a unique ecosystem with grasslands, forests, swamps, and a permanent lake—home to an abundance of wildlife including rhinos, lions, elephants, hyenas, buffalo, and thousands of flamingos. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater, surrounded by the sights and sounds of this natural wonder. In the afternoon, ascend from the caldera and return to Karatu for a relaxing evening. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
